Members

Members of the New Leaf Foundation are simply those who are willing to get involved in helping those less fortunate by donating their time, talents, or resources.

Here are some examples of what some of our members are doing:

  • Two brothers, one in high school and one in middle school, each received money from their aunt.  They chose to give the money to the New Leaf Foundation.  Wow!!!

  • One high school student gave all he had ($60) to the New Leaf Foundation!

  • A high school math teacher donated $500 for two months in a row!!!  A few months later she gave another $500.

  • After Laura's radio appearance on the David Chadwick Show, several new donations came in.  This allowed us to do more for Christmas than we ever imagined...including buying a car for one of our families.

  • For Thanksgiving, one group is getting 40 turkeys for our families while another group is supplying all of the "fixins".

  • Also for Thanksgiving, yet another group is supplying a meal for 200 people!

  • Several area businesses and individuals are taking part in our 6th annual "Adopt A Child" program.  $50 sponsors one child for Christmas.

  • One member got her neighborhood involved in supporting one of our families.  This group put together clothing, groceries, toiletries, and money for a family in need.  The money was used to directly pay a past due Duke Energy bill.

  • Another member contacted a local orthodontist she knew to help one of the children with braces.

  • One family pulled together their resources and paid the rent for a family that was struggling.

  • A local furniture store donated a living room suit to a family that had no furniture.

  • A month long bus pass is $52.  One member donated this for a woman who has no car and has to use the bus to get back and forth to work.  Eventually, another member donated a car for this woman!  This saved her from pushing a grocery cart up and down the streets every time she went to the grocery store.  It saved her from being dependent upon others to get her family to church.  This car was a real blessing!

  • Some members are donating their time to support the children in an after school program called "A Better World".

Here are a couple of notes from members:

Enclosed find donation to family of 5 in need from last week's email.  I will pray for them (and your group) as well.  Thanks & God Bless.  HP

Dear John & Laura,
Here is a check to help your foundation.  Part of this money comes from my sister in Florida who gave it to my children so that they can forward to a charity. They picked "New Leaf Foundation".
Fondly, D

11/15/07:  Thank you for making it easy to help those in need during this time of Thanksgiving. Through your hard work - we are able to reach people that we would otherwise never find. That means as much to us as I know this check does to you all! Thank you!
Your friends, SM

There are many more stories, but even MANY more needs!!!  If you are interested in helping out, please contact us at info@newleaffound.org .  There is no gift too big or too small.  The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.  A current list of needs is listed on our Donations page.
