7th Annual Adopt-A-Child

For Christmas

It’s hard to believe that we are in our 7th year of our “Adopt A Child” for Christmas program. We really appreciate all of our friends and neighbors who have donated to this program each year, as we could not do this without you!  Each holiday season, we make sure every child who attends the “A Better World” program in the inner city of Charlotte enjoys a special Christmas.  This after school program provides these low income children with a safe location to go to after school to receive tutoring, computer access, school supplies, and a hot meal each day.  Please join me again this season to provide gifts, clothing, and a hot Christmas meal to these wonderful children!

It is only $50 to sponsor a child and we have about 50 children who will be participating this year.  We are also adding an additional option to “Adopt a family” for anyone who is interested in doing that.  We expect to have about 25 inner city families this year who are in need of help and we will provide them with food for the holidays, clothing, and a gift card that will allow them to purchase gifts for their own family.  The cost to “Adopt a Family” will be $150.  You can donate to either of these options that you prefer.  

We hope that you will be able to help us make the holiday special for these wonderful kids and their families.  Please pass this along to your friends, neighbors, and church groups so we can help as many as possible!  The deadline for sponsorships is Friday, December 12th.  Please make checks payable to the “NEW LEAF FOUNDATION”, and you mail to:

We have been blessed recently with some local news coverage. 

  • Laura and the New Leaf Foundation were featured in The Charlotte Weekly for the week ending December 4, 2008.  You can download a copy of the article here:  Page 1 and Page 2

  • Laura spoke on a live broadcast from Charlotte radio station WGIV 1370-AM on April 1, 2008.   The station's Donna Jenkins Dawson interviewed Laura during the drive time morning broadcast from 7:15 - 8:00am.  It was a blessing to be able to share what God is doing through the New Leaf Foundation!
